He was a truly remarkable human being. A man with a good heart.

Late Janab K.Mohammed Beary was a rare bureaucrat with a human face who enhanced the image of the miniscule backward but enterprising Beary community with his impeccable integrity, endearing simplicity, incredible fearlessness and a passionate quest for justice.

Known popularly as Beary Saab, he lived life till his last breath without compromising on his beliefs.

It will be no exaggeration to state that he was easily one of the most illustrious member of the Beary community...

Born in a small trader's family in the picturesque western coast in 20 - 12 - 1916, Mohammed took to education with zeal , uncommon among the Beary community in that era, and joined the government after completing his graduation in erstwhile Madras.

Without batting an eyelid, Mr.Beary, known for his daring, on call joined the Army for a brief stint during World War II.

K M Beary's is most likely the first Beary family to settle in Bangalore in 1950's

Mr.Beary occupied key posts including Tashildar of Udupi, and Deputy Secretary of Finance at the seat of power Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore..

He also had the honour of being appointed the first Director of the newly set up Karnataka Lottery Division.

His close friends were former minister late Mr.S M Yahya and IPS officer Late Mr Beeramoidinl

He also closely worked with eminent personalities like BD Jatti, TMA PAI, and Ramakrishna Hegde .

He earned goodwill all through his chequered career spanning nearly four decades.

Officials who worked with him found in him a selfless soul dedicated to do his bit for society.

He promoted ethics and values in public service. They also recall that he was Pious yet secular, Gentle but firm, consultative yet decisive, thoughtful yet action - oriented.

He used his offices and stature to help the under-privileged He followed the motto Greatness lies not in trying to be somebody but in trying to help somebody. After retirement, he played a key role in the establishment of the Beary's Welfare Association in Bangalore.

He was the founder president of Beary's Welfare Association and his son in law M Beary was the founder Vice President and he was the one who started the family get together function way back in 1989 to promote fellow ship and good will among the community. Moosabba Beary was the classmate of former Union Law minister Mr. Veerappa Moily.

One of the first to proclaim the Beary tag in public domain, he wanted the community to break free from the shackles of illiteracy and backwardness and join the mainstream with pride.

If Martin Luther King had a dream to end racial discrimination , his dream was to see that every Beary holds his his head high by leading an exemplary life in whatever job he does.

Mr Beary died in 1991, leaving behind his wife Hawabi, three sons Abdul Khader, Abdul Razzak, Habib Beary and four daughters Fathima, Amina, Ayesha and Selma... They all live in Bangalore.
